BOE Recap: Board Discusses Automating Meeting Process

Eleven teachers also received tenure at Tuesday's meeting.

The Rockville Centre Board of Education recognized 11 district teachers for their appointment to tenure at Tuesday's meeting.

Those teachers are:

  • Katelyn Dunn
  • Christine Falciano
  • Nicole Jones
  • Debra Levy
  • Jennifer Lodico
  • Jeannette Lynagh
  • Cynthia Marasco
  • Ashley McAree
  • Johanna Medina-Bowers
  • Angelica Nicotra
  • Virginia Stamatakis

The board also watched a presentation from IQM2, a Long Island based company that "automates the public meeting process." Presented by founder Daryl Blowes, he explained how his company's software can build the district's meeting agendas, record the minutes and archive all its public records, thus cutting down on paper and printing costs for the district.

Currently, board members are mailed printed packets of information for upcoming meetings, agendas and policies. Blowes software would eliminate this system.

The software module, he explained, is called MinuteTraq and it manages meeting documents, reviews processes and procedures, as well as agenda packet creation, minutes creation, post-meeting letters and distribution, web publishing and searching.

Blowes said its services are currently used by Nassau BOCES and they archived nearly 40 years of data onto its server. He added that the district can upload an unlimited amount of data, and its backed up on three different servers that can each run without electricity if a power outage were to occur.

He noted that districts like Jericho, Valley Stream, Cold Spring Harbor and Harborfields have already signed on, and they have accounts in 44 states.

It would cost the district annually $15,000 for the system, but if bought through BOCES, it would cut the cost in half.

The Board did not make any decision on this presentation.
