You're Going to Pay More to Park in RVC

Parking permit fees to increase by 30 percent.

Under the recently adopted 2013 village budget, parking permit fees will increase by 30 percent, leaving residents paying anywhere from $50 to $70 more per parking pass.

The overnight parking permit will increase from $182 to $237; the residential pass from $173 to $225; and the employee parking pass from $188 to $245.

Residents will begin paying these prices by March 2013.

Other areas of the 2013 budget that saw increases included:

  • $25,000 increase in police equipment (83 percent change from this year). Comptroller Mike Schussheim said that money will be used to replace laptops in five patrol cars.
  • $26,250 increase in property repairs (111 percent change from this year). Schussheim said this money will be used to repair the roof at the Department of Public Works.
  • $29,000 increase in professional services (under the playground and recreation budget lines). Schussheim said this is the projected spending for outside instructors utilized by the recreation department.
  • $559,448 increase to Total Public Safety (5 percent increase from this year). Schussheim explained that Total Public Safety consists of the police department, fire department and building department. He added that the largest component of the increase is for additional personnel services for the police department.
