A fire that broke out in the living room of a Woods Avenue home early Tuesday morning killed two dogs and a cat, but local fire and police department officials saved a sleeping family of five.

A third teen was arrested and charged in the that put a 44-year-old village resident in the hospital with broken ribs.

Kevin Coyle, 18, was arrested at his home on Thursday night after the Rockville Centre and Nassau County Police departments discovered his involvement through a joint investigation. According to the NCPD, Coyle was charged with second-degree gang assault.

It takes a village to raise a child, and a change on how the village handles rowdy, drunk teens is needed now.

That was the message delivered by the hundreds of residents who attended Monday night's Village Board meeting to speak on the June 18 . Nearly 150 residents packed Village Hall with an additional 50-60 who stood outside because of fire code regulations on over occupancy.
