Village Receives $10K Gift for Morgan Days Park Renovation

Work is slated to begin in early June.

Rockville Centre Mayor Francis Murray, and the Village of Rockville Centre, have announced the acceptance of a $10,000 gift from Game 7 Sports to be used for the renovation and upgrade of Rev. Morgan Days Park.

Game 7 President and Rockville Centre native Marc Von Essen, alongside Village of Rockville Centre Director of Community Development Kathleen Murray, outlined a number of projects that needed to be completed in the area of the basketball courts to renovate and upgrade them. These projects had an estimated cost of approximately $20,000.

The Community Development Block grant had some funds earmarked for upgrades to Rev. Morgan Days Park, but was not able to fund the project in its entirety.

In order to bridge the gap, Game 7 and Marc Von Essen provided a cash gift for half of the estimated cost and promised to provide an additional gift of in-kind services such as flower planting, court line painting, and equipment donations to the MLK Center so the children there could make better use of the courts.

Work is slated to begin in early June.

“Game 7 Sports has once again shown themselves to be a positive force in the community,” Murray said. “I thank them for this generous donation and hope to continue to partner with them to bring the Rockville Centre community closer and support our young athletes.”

Game 7 was founded in 1997 and recognizes its mission to serve athletes and the broader community. It is Game 7’s belief that the most important learning experiences in a student-athletes career takes place outside the traditional classroom.
