Village Board: Stay Inside, It's Still Dangerous

Village uses reverse 911 calling system to warn residents to remain indoors.

This is the message the Village sent out to residents via its reverse 911 calling system:

Hurricane Irene is still in progress. Residents should stay indoors to avoid injury from falling trees , branches and power lines.

Trees are vulnerable and may be unstable because the ground is saturated with water. Even perfectly healthy trees can suddenly fall without warning. Falling trees can bring down overhead electric wires, exposing high voltage power lines and creating a danger of fatal injury.

Residents should stay indoors to avoid injury and to keep streets clear for emergency workers who are clearing roads and restoring power.

Please exercise caution and remain patient.
