RVC Village Board News: Bid Proposals and Volunteers Needed

Board accepts bids for Auxiliary Police Building renovation and new FD computer software.

At Tuesday's Village Board meeting, Rockville Centre trustees accepted bids to renovate the Auxiliary Police Department's building, update the Fire Department's computer software and purchase 20 new transformers for the Electric Department.

According to Village Administrator Frank Quigley, the lowest bidder for the renovation of the Auxiliary Police Department's building was Colonial Crafters Inc., which came in at $425,000.

The Board also approved a $49,972 bid from Alpine Software to install a new data collection program for the fire department. To find out why the department urged the board for the new system, .

A $34,980 bid was also accepted to purchase 20 new transformers for the Electric Department.

On the action part of the agenda, the Board approved moving nearly $1.5 million from certain 2011-12 budget lines to others, which officials said will not impact the tax rate. The reason for the money movement is because some revenue lines came in higher than projected, officials said, while others came in less than anticipated.

On June 8, there will be a candidate forum held at the Sandel Senior Center.

The village is also looking for volunteers to water and tend to plants that will be planted along Maple Avenue and other roads in the village. Those interested should contact the Mayor's office at 678-9260.
