Village Board Approves Consulting Contract with GB Schenone

The Rockville Centre Village Board discussed five proposed local laws, signed on to use an emergency broadcast radio station if circumstances called for a village announcement, and hired GB Schenone as a landscaping consultant at Thursday's briefing session at

Building Department Superintendent Dan Casella explained that the village signed on to use the emergency broadcast radio station — 1620 AM — that runs through Malverne. The station would be used to alert residents of weather emergencies or anything else deemed as urgent information by the village.

Public hearings are set for Jan. 25 for five proposed local laws dealing with setbacks, building height and lot coverage, construction noise, outdoor uses for commercial buildings and snow removal. To find out more about the laws, .

The board will also officially designate a polling place and time for the June 21 election at the Jan. 25 meeting after  the village's 22 election districts into one, central district two weeks ago.

Trustees also approved hiring GB Schenone as a landscaping consultant to the village. The one-year, $1,000 a month contract can be terminated by the village at any time with 30-days notice, and Schenone will advise the village on landscaping contracts.
