Village Board Approves CDBG Budget; Iannone to Leave Post

Trustees talk FEMA reimbursements and Saturday's St. Patrick's Day Parade.

The Village Board approved the 2011-12 Community Development Block Grant's budget of $311,000 at Tuesday's board meeting, and discussed several upcoming presentations and events that should be of interest to village residents.

According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Community Development Block Grant program is a flexible program that provides communities with annual grants on a formula basis to 1209 general units of local government and states. The grant money for RVC is used for programs at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, Rose Lee Young Childhood Center, Confide Counseling and the Sandel Senior Center, among others.

The village board also announced that longtime Water Department Superintendent, Anthony Iannone, will be leaving the village to pursue other career avenues. On another note, Mayor Mary Bossart said that the village could be reimbursed up to 75 percent of what it spent on winter snow storm expenses from the Federal Emergency Management Office, which she said would help recoup costs on snow removal, road repairs and overtime paid.
