Oppenheimer, Grillo Elected to 2 Village Seats

Recount confirms initial results.

Rockville Centre Deputy Village Attorney Emilio Grillo was the top vote getter Tuesday night in an at-large election for village trustee, while incumbent Edward Oppenheimer squeaked ahead of fellow board member Kevin Glynn by just eight votes and earned another term, according to election results.

"I would like to thank my opponents for engaging in a campaign that discussed issues that are important to Rockville Centre," Oppenheimer said. "I would like to thank the residents for honoring me with another term in office. I am looking forward to working with my fellow trustees as we serve the public in what I believe to be one of the hardest and most rewarding jobs I have ever undertaken."

A recount was conducted on Wednesday by the county since the results are so close, a village spokesperson said.
