RVC Library Director to Retire

Rockville Centre Public Library Director Maureen Chiofalo has announced she will retire in September after working at the library for nearly three decades.

The 66-year-old Malverne resident first joined the RVC library as a part-time clerk in 1986. She worked her way up from a nine-year stint in the children’s room to the adult reference desk and was promoted to assistant director in 2000. She replaced former director Gretchen Brown after her retirement in 2005.

“I grew up here,” Chiofalo told the Rockville Centre Herald. “I’m going to miss the people. After so many years, you form great attachments.”
