Public Hearing on Port Washington's Main Street Visioning

The issue recently drew concern from community members.

The Town of North Hempstead will hold a number of public hearings at Tuesday’s Board of Trustee meeting at Town Hall at 7:30 p.m. One of the hearings includes a discussion on Main Street Visioning in Port Washington and proposed changes to the zoning code and the proposed overlay district. Earlier discussions drew concerns from some members of the community.

The town will open the public hearing and take comments, and leave the hearing open to continue taking comments up until the town board meeting on Dec. 11, according to Councilwoman Dina De Giorgio. Residents will have the opportunity at either date.

The Town Of North Hempstead government needs to be disbanned and reformed especially after the way they handled the storm and snow storm. Rezoning is the worst idea ever. There are numerous other ways to bring more business to Port Washington and fill vacant buildings. We the people do not need more residents and more traffic until something is done about the lack of parking. Burying utility lines is another issue residents need to know about. It nis far too costly will raise taxes and does not have to be done. We need LIPA to trim trees not trim the budget and raise rates. We need to get Kaiman out of North Hempstead politics and convince Cuomo that Kaiman is the worst possible person to head LIPA. Maybe the answer is to revision the entire North Hempstead government along with numerous people at the county level.

LIPA is like a sinking ship which needs exterior work but never gets the repairs done. When the ship sink who pays to raise it from the bottom of the ocean? We will because we need a company to deliver electricity. Learn a good lesson from communities such as Freeport who generates their own electricity. I wonder why they decided to do that years ago?
