Parking Now Free in Downtown RVC after 6 p.m.

Rockville Centre changes meter policy.

Making good on a campaign promise, new Mayor Fran Murray has announced that parking in Rockville Centre’s downtown business district is now free after 6 p.m.

“We have responded to the concerns of visitors and business owners who said the Village’s parking meter enforcement was discouraging people from coming into Rockville Centre at night,” Murray said. “We don’t want people worrying about getting a ticket while enjoying a meal or a movie,” he said.

The parking meter fees and aggressive ticketing were issues in the recent election campaign that swept Murray and his two RVC United Party running mates into office on June 21.
