Mayor Murray Named to State Mayoral Executive Committee

RVC Mayor named to NYCOM Executive Committee.

Rockville Centre Mayor Francis X. Murray was named to the New York State Conference of Mayors and Municipal Officials (NYCOM) Executive Committee at NYCOM’s Annual Business Meeting on May 6 in Saratoga Springs.

The executive committee is responsible for governing the state's conference of mayors and establishing its overall policies. Mayor William Nelson of the City of Ogdensburg, NYCOM President, made the selection.

"Mayor Murray is a proven municipal leader who has been an active participant in NYCOM programs," Nelson said. "His outstanding commitment to quality public service in New York State makes him well-qualified for the appointment, and he will be a major asset to our organization. I look forward to working with Mayor Murray to implement our statewide agenda.”

The conference of mayors is the statewide association representing New York’s 60 cities and more than 500 villages. Since 1910, NYCOM has united local government officials in an active network of legislative advocacy, technical assistance and municipal training.

“I’m honored to have been selected to the executive committee," Murray said. "I promise to bring the same level of commitment and enthusiasm to the executive committee that I bring to being mayor of our fine village on a daily basis."
