Today is Election Day. Here's what you need to know about the mayoral and trustee candidates, the Fire Department's proposed $21 million bond, and where to cast your vote.

The Candidates for Mayor

The RVC Fire Department $21M Bond

  • Rockville Centre Fire Department officials want to close down Hose Company No. 1 on South Centre Avenue, merge its volunteers with , then raze the firehouse at 103 Maple Ave. — Eureka Hook, Ladder and Bucket Company No. 1 — and rebuild it. The reason, fire officials said, is because the buildings have fallen into disrepair. They are asking for residents to approve a $21 million bond that would pay for the work.

Where Do I Vote?

  • The village board recently voted to consolidate all polling locations to one, main locale — the recreation center. Located at 111 North Oceanside Road, residents can vote from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
