Waldbaum's Robbed at Gunpoint

Two men dressed in black ransacked the supermarket's safe on Saturday night.

The Waldbaum's supermarket on Ocean Avenue and Sunrise Highway in the village was robbed at gunpoint on Saturday night, and the two suspects made off with a garbage bag of money, police said.

According to authorities at the Nassau County Fourth Precinct, two men dressed in black entered the supermarket at 399 Ocean Ave. at closing time, brandished handguns and demanded that five workers lay on the ground. The store manager was then taken at gunpoint to an office and told to open an office safe.

The suspects then ransacked the safe, sprayed the manager with an unknown substance and fled in an unknown direction with the stolen money in a black garbage bag. Police said the amount of money taken was unknown. There were no injuries reported after the robbery.

Detectives ask anyone with information on the above robbery to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
