Two-Car Accident Closes Peninsula Boulevard

Morning rush hour commute was halted for nearly three hours while police investigated the accident.

A two-car accident this morning on the southbound side of Peninsula Boulevard near closed both sides of the street for nearly three hours.

According to Nassau County Police, the accident occurred around 7:25 a.m. One of the drivers involved is in serious condition, while the other sustained non-life threatening injuries.

As of 10:50 a.m., the northbound portion of Peninsula Boulevard was reopened. Police said the lanes were closed so county officers could conduct an investigation.

Mel Granick, a spokesperson for Mercy Medical Center, said he had no information available at the present time.
