Police: Serial Burglar Nabbed After Year-Long Spree

Kurt Saunders, 35, of Uniondale, was arrested in connection with eight village burglaries.

A serial burglar who hit eight Rockville Centre homes over the last year was apprehended on Saturday afternoon, police said.

According to Nassau County First Squad detectives, Kurt Saunders, 35, of Uniondale, was arrested on Saturday at 3:35 p.m. and charged with burglarizing eight Rockville Centre homes from January 2010 to this February. In six of the eight burglaries, Saunders also made off with the homeowner's vehicle, police said.

Rockville Centre police worked with county detectives to apprehend Saunders. The 35-year-old hit homes on Muirfield Road, Hampton and Lehigh Court, Addison and Vasser Place, as well as Lakeview, North Village and Voorhis avenues, police said.

Saunders is charged with eight counts of second-degree burglary, six counts of third-degree grand larceny and eight counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. He will be arraigned on Monday at First District Court in Hempstead.
