RVCPD, FBI Arrest Resident for 2011 Shooting on Meehan Lane

Two victims survived after being shot during attempted robbery.

A Rockville Centre resident was arrested Monday for a shooting that occurred on Meehan Lane in November of 2011.

Rockville Centre Detectives, along with special agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), arrested 24-year-old Cyrus Joseph on a federal arrest warrant for the shooting of two individuals during a robbery attempt, police said.

Joseph has received a federal charge of U.S. Code - Hobbs Act Robbery. He was arraigned in U.S. District Court in Central Islip earlier Tuesday.

"This was an excellent investigative effort by law enforcement personnel," Rockville Centre Police Commissioner Charles Gennario said. "We will continue to make our community a safe environment for our residents and apprehend those subjects who assault our quality of life values."

The arrest of Joseph comes less than one week after RVC Police arrested an alleged heroin dealer at the Old Mill Court apartment complex. The defendant, 53-year-old William Green, allegedly sold approximately 1,000 bags of heroin per week to up to 30 different customers from Rockville Centre and Lakeview.
