RVCFD Members Awarded for Life-Saving Effort

Four members of the RVCFD were recently awarded for their actions during a local fire.

The Rockville Centre Fire Department recognized four of its members for life saving efforts at the monthly fire council meeting on earlier in December.

Chief John Busching awarded Kevin Edell, Thomas Barbieri, Donna Hitscherich and Lt. Jeff Halstead "Pre Hospital Save" bars for actions at a house fire earlier this year.

The four department members responded to a house fire earlier in 2012 and found a resident of the residence in cardiac arrest. Through their efforts the EMTs were able to start the individual's heart to a life sustaining rhythm and bring her back to life on the way to the hospital.
