RVC Police Department Launches New Website

Site features community news, events and officer spotlights.

In addition to providing quality police service to the residents of Rockville Centre, the RVC Police Department is taking steps to communicate better with the community via the Internet. Last month, the police department unveiled an extensive new website that features safety tips, news clipping and information on top officers.

“Using the new website, we will be able to get information out to the community in the quickest amount of time possible,” said Lieutenant Chris Romance, who developed and designed the site. “Previously our website was only one page on the community website.”

Romance explained that the police department will use the site to distribute information about community events, provide residents with safety information, such as burglary prevention and water safety tips, and to acknowledge outstanding officers.

“We have ‘Officer of the Month’ and ‘Officer of the Year’ sections on the site where officers are recognized for duties performed, such as big arrests or life-saving acts,” Romance said.

The website also has a section called the “Commissioner’s Corner,” which features messages from Police Commissioner Charles Gennario on various issues affecting the community.  Currently, Gennario is using this section to address the recent gang arrests in RVC.

“We must continue to be vigilant in our efforts to keep the quality of life in the village at a higher than normal level,” writes Gennario on the website. “The Police Department is a huge part of that equation.”

The new site also contains links to the RVC Police Department’s Facebook page, where residents can leave comments and get up-to-the-minute news on arrests, ongoing investigations and police activity in the area.
