RVC PD's Firoz Honored for Role in Strangulation Arrest

Named 'Cop of the Month' for his great police work.

Police Officer Noz Firoz was named “Cop of the Month” by the Rockville Centre Police Department for investigative work that led to the arrest of a man for assaulting and strangling his mother.

The investigation began on Sept. 17 when Firoz responded to an assignment for an “aided case” and found a woman shaking uncontrollably on the floor of her home. Through skillful interviewing, Firoz determined that the woman was suffering from post-traumatic distress after having witnessed a violent struggle between her sister and her nephew the week before.

A follow-up investigation by Nassau County Police detectives assisted by members of the Rockville Centre Police Department resulted in the arrest of the nephew for second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault.
