RVC FD Extinguish Dryer Fire in Cumberland Ave. Home

Officials said no injuries were reported.

A fire that broke out inside a Cumberland Avenue home Saturday night was quickly extinguished by the Rockville Centre Fire Department, officials said.

Officials said that around 9 p.m. Saturday night, village firefighters responded to a house fire at 32 Cumberland Ave. Those first on the scene saw heavy smoke billowing from the home. It was then determined that the dryer in the home's basement was on fire, and firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze.

Firefighters checked the rest of the house, and the fire was contained in the Cumberland home basement. A resident and village cop were taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.
