Retired NYPD Officer Arrested for George Martin's Shooting

Michael Oliver was arrested on Monday for firing two rounds from a handgun in the restaurant.

A retired New York City Police Department detective was arrested last week in connection with at George Martin's on Park Avenue on Feb. 7, police said.

According to RVC Police Commissioner Charles Gennario, Michael Oliver, a Rockville Centre resident, turned himself into Nassau County Detectives last week. Oliver was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, a Class D felony, and was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Monday.

Local police said Oliver fired two rounds from a handgun into a wall near the bar in George Martin Restaurant at around 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 7. No one was hurt, but the bar wall was damaged.
