A Rockville Centre woman faces a felony DWI charge after police say she was driving drunk Friday afternoon with her 2-year-old son in her car.

According to police, a witness called police after observing Corina Rusu, 36, driving erratically to the Stop & Shop located on Atlantic Avenue in Oceanside.

Police responded to the supermarket and saw Rusu and her son inside. Police stopped Rusu as she exited the store and after showing signs of intoxication, she was arrested at 4:15 p.m., police said.

Rusu was transported to police headquarters for further testing and the child was picked up from the scene by his father, police said.

Rusu is charged with aggravated DWI, with a child under age 15, in violation of Leandra’s Law and DWI.  She will be arraigned on Saturday at First District Court in Hempstead.

Chooch is correct we can't have the police arresting people on what they may do! Glad she's off the road however, and I hope she gets help!

This is about the fourth or fifth story I have read about a parent that was driving drunk with kids in the car.It is bad enough teenagers do this but adults should know better.Send them to parenting 101 and take their license away.To bad there is no way a car can detect someone getting in the car drunk or texting itcould save a life.Lucky no one was hurt or killed.

sadly ,many people allow their teens to drink at their house with their friends and then drive. What kind of tragic outcome ensues from this parental negligence? They take all our lives in their hands.
