Police: Oceanside Man Had Cocaine While Driving Jet Ski

A man speeding on a jet ski through Reynolds Channel early Saturday night was later found with cocaine, according to the Nassau County Police Marine Bureau.

According to police, David J. Gotterup, 33 of Oceanside was observed by police officers traveling at a high rate of speed on a 2012 Sea Doo Jet Ski.

While attempting to stop Gotterup, he reportedly tossed a clear Zip-lock bag into the water. The officers were able to recover the bag from the water, which contained a white substance believed to be cocaine. 

Gotterup was placed under arrest without incident.

He is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th degree as well as numerous maritime boating violations. 

He was arraigned on Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
