Local pols attend ceremony for Floodlight Rescue Co. No. 1's new ambulance.

On Sunday morning at 11 a.m., Floodlight Rescue Co. No. 1 of the Rockville Centre Fire Department celebrated its newest ambulance with a traditional “Wetdown” Ceremony.

The new ambulance actually went into service a little more than four weeks ago.

After brief remarks by Captain John Hennig, Mayor Francis Murray and Chief John Busching, Monsignor William E. Koening offered a blessing. Other dignitaries in attendance included State Senator Dean Skelos, Assemblyman Brian Curran, and Villages Trustees Kevin Glynn and Ed Oppenheimer.

Captain Hennig then broke a bottle of champagne on the vehicles diamond plate step which was then followed by the “Wetdown.” The other companies of the department then sprayed gallons of water on the new rig.

The above information was submitted by Ed Oppenheimer. Click here to see 130 photos of the wetdown ceremony.
