Police: Oceanside Man Allegedly Broke Into CVS to Steal Cigarettes

An Oceanside man was arrested early Friday morning after police say he broke into a local CVS and stole $400 worth of cigarettes.

According to detectives, Rockville Centre police responded to an alarm at the CVS located on the corner of Oceanside and Merrick roads at around 1:15 a.m. Cops saw Patrick McHale, 21, walking from the pharmacy parking lot carrying a large plastic bag and a fire extinguisher.

After cops inspected the grounds and found that the CVS glass doors were broken and an entry had been made, they searched McHale's bag and found $400 worth of cigarette cartons.

McHale was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools. He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Friday.
