A Freeport man was arrested for a home burglary that occurred on Allen Road in Rockville Centre on Monday night.
According to First Squad detectives, Rockville Centre Police responded to a house alarm and discovered the rear door was open when they arrived. The suspect, Jerry Valery, 39, was allegedly inside with a bag containing items from the home.
"When the officers attempted to arrest the defendant, he fought with them and attempted to take one of their weapons," the police report stated.
Police officers used a Taser to subdue Valery, however two were injured by the defendant while trying to place him under arrest.
Both the officers and Valery were taken to area hospitals for treatment and evaluation, respectively.
The defendant was charged with first-degree burglary, second-degree robbery (Attempt), two counts of second-degree assault, third-degree robbery (Attempt) and resisting arrest. He will be arraigned on Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
