Hempstead Man Caught in Raymond Street Burglary

Gregory France, 46, had a county district court bench warrant out for petit larceny.

A Hempstead man who allegedly burglarized a Raymond Street home last night was caught trying to flee the property, police said.

According to detectives, RVC police responded to a 911 burglary call at a Raymond Street home last night around midnight. The homeowners, who police said was an elderly couple, were asleep in an upstairs bedroom. Two officers entered the home through an open basement door and heard noise on the first floor. A short time later, Gregory France, 46, of Hempstead, was found running out of the front door of the home. He was quickly caught by an RVC police sergeant. 

It was later found that France had an outstanding Nassau County District Court bench warrant for petit larceny.

France was charged with second-degree burglary, petit larceny, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools. He will be arraigned today at First District Court in Hempstead.
