Duo Nabbed for RVC Robbery
One man allegedly stole the 77-year-old victim's purse while his partner waited in the getaway car, cops said.
Two men have been arrested for their roles in a Rockville Centre robbery on Oct. 15, cops said.
According to police, a 77-year-old female victim was sitting in her car in front of her Lehigh Court home when she was approached by an unknown male wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. He ripped her pocketbook from her hands and fled by foot northbound on Lehigh Court.
The victim spotted the man entering a white or silver passenger vehicle, which fled west on Beverly Road. The proceeds taken included the pocketbook, cash and credit cards.
When the men attempted to use the credit cards, cops were able to catch up to them.
Michael White, 46, of Freeport, was identified as the man who allegedly stole the pocketbook from the woman, and he was arrested on Oct. 25. Dennis Petty, 46, of Westbury, was identified as the driver of the car, and he was placed in custody on Nov. 3.
Both men have been charged with second-degree robbery. White was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Oct. 26, and Petty's arraignment is scheduled for Monday.
