Crimes Nearby: Taxi Driver Robbed by Passengers

According to detectives, at 3:55 a.m. on Nov. 1, after exiting a LIRR train from and walking towards the taxi cab stand at South 12th Street, two 25 year old victims, male and female, were followed by a group made up of five white men and one white woman who began to verbally insult the victims.

Four Charged in LIRR Ticket Machine Scam

Four Romanian nationals face charges for stealing financial information using cameras and skimming devices placed at LIRR ticket machines, according to the Nassau County District Attorney.

Nassau County Police are investigating a robbery of a 57-year old male taxi driver that occurred on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 11:30 p.m. in New Hyde Park. According to detectives, the driver was dispatched in his taxi to pick up three male passengers in Jamaicam Queens. The suspects directed the driver to the vicinity of Primrose Drive.

Cops: Queens Man Charged in Garden City Robbery

Cops said a 55-year-old woman was returning to her Pell Terrace home when police said she discovered an unknown car in her driveway and her front door wide open. As she approached her home, police said Robert E. Washington, 50, of St. Albans, was leaving the house with her jewelry in a pillow case.

Cops: Armed Robbery at Red Roof Inn

According to police, a 23-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man were standing in the parking lot when an man armed with a handgun approached them. That subject pushed the woman to the ground and took her cell phone, cops said. A second man took a watch and a wallet containing personal papers and cash from the male victim, police reported. The second subject reportedly did not have a weapon, reports stated.

Electric Bill Scam in Rockville Centre

An apparent scammer has been targeting Rockville Centre business owners and residents by claiming to be from the electric department and warning that their power will be turned off unless they pay up in cash, the village said.
