Crimes Nearby: Sunrise Car Dealerships Hit with Larcenies

The following information was supplied by the Lynbrook, Malverne and Nassau County Police Departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate guilt.

Arrests

  • On April 15 at 07:30 p.m., Dennie Howard, 39, of Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of marijuana, aggravated unlicensed operation and an equipment violation on Merrick Road in Lynbrook.
  • On April 16 at 8 p.m., a 16-year-old from Lynbrook was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana in Municipal Parking Field No. 8 in Lynbrook.
  • On April 16  at 8:12 p.m., a 16-year-old from Lynbrook was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.
  • On April 18 at 3:10 p.m., Michael Favours, 25, of Roosevelt, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation (warrant) at 1 Columbus Drive in Lynbrook.
  • On April 19 at 11:30 a.m., Robert C. Lachiana, 50, of East Rockaway, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operation, operate a motor vehicle while using a hand held cell phone, unregistered motor vehicle, improper registration plates and uninsured motor vehicle on Ocean Avenue in Lynbrook. The defendant was also charged with two open warrants from the Hempstead Village Court for unregistered motor vehicle and no electrical permit.
  • On April 21 at 5 a.m., Lewis Sanchez, 48, of Huntington,was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation and an equipment violation on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.
  • On April 21 at 9:15 p.m., Joen McLaughlin, 26, of Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, unsafe backing, improper registration plate and  uninsured motor vehicle on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.
Case Reports
  • Suspicious/ Unusual: At 2:20 p.m. on April 12, a complainant reported that they received a letter from a collection agency requesting payment on an unknown credit card account with a balance of $1,734.83. The complainant reported that the bank listed on the account does not exist.
  • Grand Larceny: At 9:15 a.m. on April 16, the manager of Legacy Infiniti, located at 855 Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook, reported that an unknown person(s) entered their property and removed four tire and rims from a 2009 Infiniti G-37. The value of the tires and rims is $1,800. The tires and rims were taken between 9:30 p.m. on April 15 and 9 a.m. on April 16.
  • Lost Property: At 10:55 a.m. on April 16, a complainant reported that they lost their Samsung Stratosphere cell phone in the vicinity of 226 Merrick Road in Lynbrook. The value of the phone is $200.
  • Grand Larceny: At 1:15 p.m. on April 17, the manager of Sunrise Volkswagen, located at 931 Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook, reported that an unknown person(s) entered their property and removed seven catalytic converters from seven different 2013 Volkswagen vehicles. The value of the catalytic converters is $17,500.The catalytic converters were taken between 8 p.m. on April 15 and 9 a.m. on April 17.
  • Burglary: At 11:10 p.m. on April 18, a complainant reported that an unknown person(s) entered their residence, located at 60 Fowler Ave., and removed a 36-inch Audiovox Television and remote control from their living room. The property was taken between 12 a.m. on April 17 and 10 a.m. on April 18. The value of the property is $205.
