Cops: Oceanside Man Set Fire at Bar

An Oceanside man was arrested on Thursday after he allegedly tried to burn down a bar with people still inside, police said.

Alec Sapounas, 60, is charged with second-degree attempted arson and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Cops: Woman Allowed Minors to Drink at Long Beach Home

A Long Beach resident was slapped with a summons for violating the city’s Social Host Law ordinance last week.

According to Long Beach Police Department, Patti Michaelman, 46, was issued the summons after police officers responded to a call about noise at 63 Forester St. on Sept. 20. The two officers that responded to the scene observed a minor exit the residence holding an alcoholic beverage, police said.

Long Beach Golfer Sentenced to Probation for Assault on Green

Grant Smith of Long Beach was sentenced Wednesday to three years probation for menacing two black golfers and using racial slurs on a golf course at Eisenhower Park in April.
