Crimes Nearby: School Teacher Charged with Rape

The following information was supplied by the Lynbrook and Nassau County Police Departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Lynbrook

Arrests

• On July 27 at 2:10 a.m., Richard Gogarty, 33, of East Rockaway, was arrested on Rocklyn Avenue in Lynbrook and charged with Aggravated DWI.
• On July 31 at 11:05 p.m., Zandro Galolo, 41, of Valley Stream, was arrested on Merrick Road in Lynbrook and charged with Aggravated DWI.
• On Aug. 2 at 7:20 a.m., Kevin Hoffman, 41, of Franklin Square, was arrested on Hempstead Avenue in Lynbrook and charged with Aggravated DWI.
• On Aug. 2 at 10:07 p.m., Peter Fazio, 23, of Lynbrook, was arrested on Merrick Road in Lynbrook and charged with assault and criminal mischief.
• On Aug. 3 at 10:08 p.m., Oscar Estrada, 35, of Hempstead, was arrested on Peninsula Boulevard in Lynbrook on an open Nassau County arrest warrant for Driving While Ability Impaired.
• On Aug. 5 at 9 a.m., Tara Driscoll, 33, of Bayshore, was arrested and charged with rape, which police say occurred at the Capri Motel on Freer Street in Lynbrook.
• On Aug. 7 at 10:45 p.m., Kevin Vesolowki, 49, of West Babylon, was arrested on Peninsula Boulevard in Lynbrook and charged with DWI.

Case Reports

• Between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 1, a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle, valued at $4,000, was reported stolen from Vincent Avenue in Lynbrook.
• Between the hours of 6 p.m. on Aug. 2 and 9:45 a.m. on Aug. 3, a business on Merrick Road in Lynbrook had $2,400 in damage done to the front windows of the establishment.
• Between the hours of 5 p.m. on Aug. 2 and 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 3, $1,400 in scrap metal and air conditioning condenser coils were reported stolen from a business on Merrick Road in Lynbrook.
• Between the hours of 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 and 7 a.m. on Aug. 5, a watch — valued at $1,500 — and a GPS unit — valued at $140 — were reported stolen from a 2004 Kia parked on Calvin Street in Lynbrook.
• Between the hours of 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Aug. 4, $400 in damage was done to the tires of 2009 Toyota parked on Forest Avenue in Lynbrook.
• Between the hours of 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 4 and 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 5, a GPS unit — valued at $200 — was reported stolen from a 2009 Nissan parked on Calvin Street in Lynbrook.

Crimes in Elmont, Valley Stream, Franklin Square and West Hempstead

Burglary

• Two homes were burglarized - one on E.Oxford Street in Valley Stream on Aug. 3. and the other on Elmont Road in Elmont - on Aug. 5.
• Prince Umberto's on Franklin Avenue in Franklin Square was burglarized overnight on Aug. 2-3.

Grand Larceny - Motor Vehicles

• A car was stolen from the driveway of a home on Emerson Drive in West Hempstead on Aug. 1. Two others were taken from the driveways of an Elmont home on Caroline Avenue the next day and a Valley Stream home on Rosedale Road on Aug. 4.
• Two cars were stolen from the parking lot of Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream on Aug. 2 and a third on Aug. 4.
• On Aug. 5, a car was stolen in Elmont after the driver of the vehicle left it running while inside a store on Hempstead Turnpike.
• A motorcycle parked on Fenwood Drive in Valley Stream was stolen, along with the chain, on Aug. 1. Another was stolen while parked overnight on Drew Avenue in Elmont from Aug. 6-7.
• Sometime between July 26 and Aug. 3 a vehicle that had been parked on Barry Drive in Valley Stream was stolen. Another was stolen from a lot on Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream on Aug. 7.
• A car parked on Kalb Avenue in Franklin Square overnight on Aug. 3-4 was stolen.

More Grand Larcenies

• A man parked on Chamberlain Road in West Hempstead on Aug. 1 reported that a laptop and other personal items were stolen from his car.
• Items were reportedly stolen from a garage on Francis Court in Elmont on July 31.
• All four tires and rims were stolen from a car parked on Lucille Avenue in Elmont on Aug. 5, where the thieves left the vehicle perched on bricks.

Other Thefts

• Tires and rims were stolen from vehicles parked on New York Avenue and Jackson Avenue in West Hempstead and on Grange Street in Franklin Square on Aug. 1-2 and on Parkway Drive in Elmont on Aug. 6.
• Items, including a camera and a laptop, went missing from two unlocked cars - one parked on Lincoln Avenue in Valley Stream on July 26 and the other on Sycamore Street in West Hempstead sometime between July 31 and Aug. 1.
• GPS devices were stolen from vehicles parked on Langdon Boulevard in Lakeview, and Stratford Road and Sunapee Road in West Hempstead from July 31 to Aug. 3. The car parked on Stratford had been left unlocked.

Criminal Mischief

• Unknown subjects spray-painted the garage and patio of a home on Arden Boulevard in West Hempstead sometime between Aug. 5 and Aug. 7. In addition to the damage, the homeowner said the perpetrators also left empty beer cans and bottles in his backyard.
• Tires were slashed on cars parked on Lydia Street in Valley Stream on Aug. 3 and on Garfield Street in Franklin Square on Aug. 7.
