Crimes Nearby: Marijuana-Filled Package Left on Malverne Stoop

The following information was supplied by the Lynbrook, Malverne and Nassau County Police Departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate guilt.

Arrests

  • On March 18 at 3:45 p.m., Bari Stark, 34, of Lynbrook, was arrested and charged with assault on Broadway in Lynbrook. 
  • On March 19 at 3:10 p.m., Karla N. Sivila, 39, of Malverne, was arrested and charged with unauthorized practice at 10 Union Ave., Suite 7, in Lynbrook. The defendant, while employed as a massage therapist at Water and Body Treatment Day Spa, performed a massage without being licensed by the State of New York.
  • On March 19 at 9:30 p.m., Scott E. Piccirello, 28, of Valley Stream, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, unlawful possession of marihuana, aggravated unlicensed operation and no license plate light on Horton Road in Lynbrook. The defendant was also charged with an open warrant for failure to stop at a stop sign, failure to signal a turn and unlicensed operation.
  • On March 20 at 1:20 a.m., Joe Brunson, 27, of Freeport, was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated unlicensed operation on Union Avenue in Lynbrook
  • A Malverne man was arrested by Police Officer Schmidt at approximately 2:50 a.m. on March 21 and charged with violating an valid order of protection issued by Nassau County Family Court. The defendant was transported Malverne Police Headquarters for processing and then to Nassau County Police Headquarters for lodging. The subject was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court the following morning.
  • On March 21 at 8 a.m., Wiseallah I. Hightower-Castro, 25, of Lynbrook, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct on Starks Place in Lynbrook.
  • On March 22 at 10:35 p.m., Jeffrey Lemont Williams, 19, of Roosevelt, was arrested and charged with assault on Merrick Road in Lynbrook.
  • On March 24 at 8:20 a.m., Jefferson D. Edwards, 55, of Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and failure to signal turn on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.
  • On March 24 at 11:10 p.m., Diony Rodriguez-Abreu, 26, of Baldwin, was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation, uninsured motor vehicle, obstructed view and circumvention of interlock device on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook. The defendant had a restriction on his license requiring any vehicle they operate have an ignition interlock device installed, which required that person to give a breath sample before the vehicle would start.

  • On March 22, a Wolf Avenue resident in Malverne reported finding a package on the front stoop of his residence. The package had the address of another Malverne location. The resident took the package to the other location, but the homeowner there said it was not his name and not his package. The resident notified the Malverne Police Department and upon investigation it was discovered that the package contained a large amount of marijuana. The United States Postal Inspectors were notified and responded to police headquarters. The Malverne Police Department and the U.S. Postal Inspectors are continuing the investigation.
  • Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument: At 2:20 p.m. on March 18, the manager of Quizno’s, located at 2 Broadway in Lynbrook, reported that a male suspect entered the store and made a purchase with a counterfeit $5 bill. 
  • Grand Larceny: At 8 a.m. on March 20, the owner of Santis Landscaping reported that an unknown person(s) broke the lock of their trailer, which was parked at 440 Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook. The suspect(s) removed several pieces of landscaping equipment -- a Lawnboy lawnmower, three Redmax trimmers and a Redmax leaf blower -- valued at $2,500.
  • Grand Larceny: At 12 p.m. on March 23, a complainant reported picking up their car at the Anchor Audi Service Center, located at 163 Denton Ave. in Lynbrook, at which time they left their Enterprise Rental Car at Anchor Audi. The rental car, a 2012 Jeep Liberty, was removed by an unknown person(s) before it could be returned to Enterprise Car Rental. The value of the car is $23,000.
  • Identity Theft: At 9:40 a.m. on March 24, a complainant reported that an unknown person(s) opened a Sprint Cell phone account in their name. The charges are in the amount of $1,086.57. 
  • Grand Larceny: At 8:30 a.m. on March 25, a complainant reported that an unknown person(s) removed four tires and rims from their 2010 Nissan Maxima which was parked in parking field No. 15 in Lynbrook. The value of the tires and rims is $3,000.
  • Grand Larceny: At 11:55 a.m. on March 25, a complainant reported that an unknown person(s) removed their 1998 Nissan Maxima which was parked in the driveway of their residence on Buckingham Place in Lynbrook. The value of the vehicle is $2,500.
  • Petit Larceny: At 1:30 p.m. on March 25, a complainant reported that an unknown person(s) removed a refrigerator from the rear yard of their residence on Trafalgar Square in Lynbrook. The value of the refrigerator is $1,000.
  • Identity Theft: At 6:35 p.m. on March 26, a complainant reported that an unknown person(s) made a charge on their Citibank MasterCard. The charge was in the amount of $138.96.
