The following information was supplied by Lynbrook, Nassau County and New York State Police. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Crimes in Valley Stream, Elmont, Franklin Square, Malverne, Lakeview and West Hempstead:

Burglaries

  • A home on S. Jasper Street in North Valley Stream was burglarized on Oct. 7 and another residence on E. Avenue in Valley Stream was burglarized on Oct. 10.
  • A burglary occurred at an Elmont home on Parkway Drive between Sept. 15 and Oct. 3.
  • Best Cellular on Franklin Avenue in Franklin Square was burglarized between Oct. 3 and Oct. 4.

Grand Larceny

  • A car was stolen while parked on Holly Place in West Hempstead between Oct. 8 and Oct. 9.
  • A vehicle parked in front of a residence on Hathaway Avenue in Elmont was stolen on Oct. 10.
  • A victim reported to police that an unknown person stole property from her vehicle while parked on Ontario Road in Lakeview on Oct. 8.

Prohibited Sale of Alcoholic Beverage

  • In response to community complaints, POP Officers conducted an investigation at four local businesses and arrested four individuals on Oct. 5 for selling alcohol to an underaged agent without asking for proper identification. They arrested Yogeshkumar Patel, of Flushing, at the Lucky Convenience on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont, Andre Balley, of St. Albans, at the Getty 4 Corners Food Mart on Linden Boulevard in Elmont, Buyuknisan Cengiz, of Elmont, at the First Petroleum on Linden Boulevard in Elmont, and Leon Bubak, of Valley Stream, at Betsy's Deli and Grocery on Central Court in Valley Stream.

DWI Arrest

  • A Queens woman was arrested by New York State Police for DWI after she was pulled over for speeding on the Southern State Parkway near Malverne-West Hempstead.

Arrests

  • At 12:15 a.m. on Oct. 4, Lester Achaibar, 30, of Lindenwood, was arrested and charged with criminal use of a firearm, possession of a weapon, second-degree assault and first-degree burglary, which had occurred on Rolling Street.
  • At 9:40 p.m. on Oct. 4, Javond Mills, 23, of Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with giving a false statement in regards to a case report filed on Denton Ave.
  • At 6:56 p.m. on Oct. 5, Salvatore Civello, 44, of Lynbrook, was arrested and charged with aggravated harassment.
  • At 10:52 p.m. on Oct. 7, Michael Pensky, 27, of Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with larceny which occurred at Pharmacy, located at 400 Sunrise Highway Lynbrook.
  • At 2:09 p.m. on Oct. 10, Calvin Myers, 42, of Hempstead, and Milton Flippen Jr., 42, of Hempstead, were arrested and charged with larceny which occurred at CVS Pharmacy, located at 633 Merrick Road in Lynbrook.

Case Reports

  • Between 11:40 p.m. on Oct. 1 to 7:50 a.m. on Oct. 2, a burglary occurred at a business on Union Avenue. Proceeds were a cash register drawer and $3,000.
  • On Oct. 4, a victim reported that on July 24 he had purchased a 1967 Pontiac GTO valued at $4,000 on Ebay. The victim paid the $4,000, however, never received the vehicle.
  • On Sept. 28, between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., a tire valued at $185 was slashed on a 2009 Pontiac parked on Winter St. The same car had two more tires slashed on Oct. 3.
  • On Oct. 6, between 1 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., a 1970 Mercury Cyclone GT valued at $13,000 was taken from a garage on Earle Ave.
  • Between Oct. 7, 10:45 p.m. and 11:00am on Oct. 8, four tires and rims valued at $6,700 were taken from , 855 Sunrise Hwy in Lynbrook.
