Four firefighters were injured while doing training exercises at the North Woodmere Park Fire Training Facility Tuesday night, according to Nassau County Police.

During the drill, four members of the Elmont Fire Department drill team were on the rear step of a truck holding onto a grip bar, police said. During the course of the drill, the truck veered to the left and struck a wooden guardrail.

According to police, the impact of the collision sent two male firefighters, a 23 year old and a 25 year old over the guardrail. The 23-year-old victim sustained abrasions, contusions and a neck injury. The 25 year old also suffered abrasions and contusions to his body.

The two other male firefighters, ages 20 and 26, were thrown onto the roadway, police said. The 20-year-old male suffered a chest injury, as well as abrasions and contusions. The 26-year-old male suffered a serious head injury, as well as multiple abrasions and contusions to his body.

According to police, all four victims were transported to local hospitals. Police did not release any further details on the current condition of the injured firefighters.

The male driver of the truck was uninjured and police said the vehicle was impounded for safety check. The investigation is ongoing.

Police are searching for two perpetrators who allegedly robbed a 21-year-old man who was walking in Lakeview Sunday night.

According to Nassau County detectives, the victim was near the intersection of Woodfield Road and Canandaigua Avenue around 11:35 p.m. when two male subjects approached him from behind.

"One subject made a motion to his waistband as if he had a weapon and then pulled off the victim’s gold chain with medallion," police said. They then took the victim’s wallet and iPhone and fled on foot in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported.
