Crimes Nearby: Businesses Burglarized and DWI Arrests

A look at crimes and incidents in the areas surrounding Rockville Centre.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County, Rockville Centre and Lynbrook police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Lynbrook Arrests

  • On June 21 at 7 p.m., Gregory Powell, 31, of Laurelton, N.Y., was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal contempt of court. He was arrested on Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook, police said.
  • On June 22 at 12:30 p.m. Angela Randolph, 44, of Ellenwood, Ga. was arrested and charged with aggravated D.W.I that occurred on Merrick Road in Lynbrook.
  • On June 23 at 4 a.m., Adam Williams, 21, of Hempstead, N.Y., was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle on Carpenter Avenue in Lynbrook.
  • On June 25 at 5:32 a.m., German Ferrera, 26, of Valley Stream, N.Y., was arrested and charged with D.W.I on Merrick Road in Lynbrook.

  • Between the hours of 1:55 a.m. and 7:15 a.m. on June 21, unknown persons caused $115 in damage to a wooden fence at  in Lynbrook. Police are investigating.

 

Crimes in Malverne, West Hempstead, Valley Stream and Elmont

Grand Larcenies:

  • A motor vehicle was stolen from a location on Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead on June 25.
  • Tires and rims were stolen off of three vehicles on June 23 to June 24 - one parked on Elm Street in West Hempstead, one on Flower Road in Valley Stream and one on Caroline Avenue in Garden City South.
  • Two motor vehicles were stolen in Elmont - one while parked on Hendrickson Avenue on June 23 and the other at the intersection of Hempstead Turnpike and the Cross Island Parkway on June 11.

Home Burglaries:

  • A home on Remsen Street in Elmont was reportedly burglarized on June 25.

Business Burglaries:

  • Three businesses in Valley Stream were burglarized this week. The incidents occurred at Sal & Vin's Barber on Rockaway Avenue on the night of June 23, and at Goldies Restaurant and Stationary Store, both on Dubois Avenue, on June 27.
  • Elmont Farms Supermarket on Meacham Avenue in Elmont was reportedly burglarized on the night of June 19.

Other Larcenies/Thefts:

  • Tires and rims were stolen off of a car parked in front of a home on Nightingale Road in West Hempstead on June 23.

Criminal Mischief:

  • Two victims in West Hempstead reported damage to their vehicles on June 21. One was parked on Langley Avenue, where an unknown person smashed the car's driver side window, and the other on Mulberry Lane, where a side view mirror was damaged.
  • The owner of a car parked on N. Fletcher Avenue in Valley Stream on June 20 reported damage to the rear side and hood of the vehicle.
  • The tires were punctured on two cars parked in Elmont. The first incident occurred on Evans Avenue on June 20 and the second on Kingston Street on June 24.
