Crime Watch: Unsolved Shooting on Old Mill Court

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

Arrests:

On March 17 at 1:23 p.m., Michael J. Diresta, 48, of Rockaway Park, was arrested for second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle following an investigation by police personnel in the vicinity of Merrick Road in Rockville Centre. Additionally, the defendant was the subject of an open arrest warrant and was charged with petit larceny.

On March 19 at 2:31 p.m., an 18-year-old male, residing on Lakeside Drive in RVC, was arrested for second-degree criminal contempt for violating an order of protection during a domestic incident.

On March 19 at 3:50 p.m., Andrew Negron, 31, of Massapequa Park, was arrested for disorderly conduct on S. Park Avenue in RVC.

On March 19 at 10:58 p.m., Francis J. Gianni, 29, of Deer Park, was arrested for third-degree assault (two counts) following a disturbance in front of 212 Merrick Road in RVC.

On March 20 at 12:18 a.m., Anthony J. Colonna, 21, of Cedarhurst was arrested for petit larceny in Municipal Parking Field No. 1 in RVC.

Shooting/Assault:

On March 16 at 10:05 p.m., police personnel responded to Old Mill Court after receiving a call reporting multiple gunshots heard in the vicinity of Old Mill Court. During the investigation, police personnel located a male victim with a gunshot wound in the emergency room at Mercy Medical Center.    

Burglary: 

On March 17 at 7:46 p.m., a complainant from Saint Agnes Cathedral, located at 29 Quealy Place in Rockville Centre, reported that at approximately 5:50 p.m., an unknown person damaged a window resulting in approximately $200 in damage, entered or remained in Saint Agnes Cathedral without authorization, and damaged a donation box resulting in approximately $200 in damage. No proceeds were reported missing.

Larceny:

On March 14 at 8:46 a.m., the manager of Beach Bum Tanning, located at 313 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre, reported that a person known to her stole tanning salon products valued at $256 on March 9 at approximately 8:40 a.m.

On March 14 at 8:54 p.m., a motorist reported that an unknown person entered the trunk of her vehicle and stole her pocketbook containing personal papers and credit cards while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field No. 1, sometime between 7:45 and 8:30 p.m. 

On March 15 at 7:42 p.m., a customer reported that an unknown person stole her unattended pocketbook containing $70, personal papers and credit cards while she was at Rockville Centre Lanes, located at 100 Maple Ave. in Rockville Centre sometime between 3:15 and 5 p.m.

On March 16 at 1:18 p.m., the manager of CVS, located at 598 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre, reported that an unknown person stole two televisions valued at $299.

On March 17 at 4:02 p.m., a motorist reported that an unknown person damaged the driver’s side window of her motor vehicle and stole a portable GPS device, luggage, and personal papers from her vehicle while it was parked at Mercy Medical Center sometime between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m  

On March 18, a Demott Avenue resident reported a pair of Uggs boots was stolen from the front step of her home.

Criminal Mischief:

On March 17 at 7:34 p.m., a Vernon Avenue resident reported that the paint on her 2011 Honda was scratched by unknown person(s) sometime between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. while her vehicle was parked in the driveway of her residence.
