Crime Watch: RVC Man Arrested for Strangulation, Unlawful Imprisonment

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

The following information was supplied by the RVC Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrest:

On Dec. 17 at 8:57 p.m, John Funches, 37, of Hempstead, was arrested for second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation following a police investigation of an auto accident on Peninsula Boulevard and Lakeview Avenue in Rockville Centre.

On Dec. 17 at 1:55 p.m., Malik Crowl, 22, of Rockville Centre, was arrested for strangulation and first-degree unlawful imprisonment following a police investigation at a Meehan Lane in Rockville Centre residence.

On Dec. 14 at 10:10 a.m., German A. Reyes, 36, of Hempstead, was issued an appearance ticket for village code disturbing residential garbage and a summons for improper registration following a police investigation on Seaman Avenue in Rockville Centre.

Burglary:

On Dec. 12 at 5:30 p.m., a complainant from N. Village Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that on Dec. 10 at approximately 12:30 a.m. an acquaintance entered her apartment without permission and stole an Apple iPod valued at $279.

Larceny:

On Dec. 13 at 8 a.m., a complainant from Wellsley Road in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) did break the front passenger window of her 2007 Ford while it was parked at her home overnight and removed a pocketbook with contents without permission.

On Dec. 13 at 3:15 a.m., a complainant from N. Village Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole two NYS license plates from his 1989 Ford while it was parked at his residence between Dec. 12 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 13 at 1 p.m.

On Dec. 14 at 12:30 a.m., a complainant from Anchor Drive in Wantagh reported that unknown person(s) stole property including a GPS and cell phone from his unlocked 2007 Dodge while it was parked at the Masonic Lodge, located at 28 Lincoln Ave. in Rockville Centre between Dec. 13 at 9 p.m. and Dec. 14 at 12:12 a.m.

On Dec. 14 at 12:55 p.m., a complainant teacher at Hewitt School, located at 446 DeMott Ave. in Rockville Centre, reported that unknown person(s) stole a charm bracelet from her desk sometime between Dec. 9 at 8:20 a.m. and Dec. 12 at 8 a.m.

On Dec. 14 at 7:15 p.m., a complainant medical assistant at Orlin and Cohen Group, located at 36 Lincoln Ave. in Rockville Centre, reported that unknown person(s) stole a wallet and contents from her pocketbook sometime between Dec. 13 at 8:30 a.m. and Dec. 13 at 5:30 p.m.

On Dec. 15 at 4 p.m., a complainant from N. Forest Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole a wallet while she was shopping at King Kullen, located at 127 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre, between 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. and made unauthorized purchases against her Discover Card totaling $160.

On Dec. 18  at 10:30 a.m., a complainant from N. Village Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole her pocketbook and contents while she was at Monaghan’s Bar, located at 48 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre, on Dec. 17 between 10 p.m. and 11:55 p.m. The pocketbook was recovered in the vicinity of N. Village Avenue in Rockville Centre after a credit card had been reportedly used by unknown person(s) to purchase gas.

On Dec. 18 at 11:30 a.m. a complainant from Wilson Drive in Baldwin reported that unknown person(s) stole his Toshiba lap top computer valued at $1,000 from his 2011 ME/BE  while parked in Municipal Parking Field No. 8 between Dec. 17 at 11:30 p.m. and Dec. 18 at 11 a.m.

On Dec. 17 at 4:15 p.m., a complainant from Morris Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole his iPhone and debit card while he was playing basketball at the Recreation Center, located at 111 Oceanside Road in Rockville Centre.

On Dec. 17  at 5:21 p.m., a complainant from Sarah Court in Deer Park reported that unknown person(s) stole her wallet and contents from her unlocked 2005 Honda while it was parked on Ongley Street in Rockville Centre between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

On Dec. 20 at 9:45 a.m., complainant manager from Lexus of Rockville Centre, located at 700 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre, reported that his Radio Shack, Macy’s and Hess credit cards were used without authorization resulting in $469.08 in charges on Dec. 19 between 11:39 a.m and 8 p.m.
