Crime Watch Part Two: Stray Bullet Flies Through Hempstead Ave. Home

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

Burglary Attempt:

On May 28 at 10:50 a.m., the manager from a Sunrise Highway Rockville Centre business reported that sometime between May 27 at 3:30 p.m. and May 28 at 6:45 a.m., unknown person(s) damaged a door frame and door lock; no entry was gained.

Investigation:

On May 31 at 10:53 p.m., a resident from Hempstead Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that a bullet entered his residence through an exterior window and damaged an interior wall. 

Larceny:

On May 28 at 2 p.m., a resident from Bulson Road in Rockville Centre reported that on May 27 sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m., unknown person(s) stole jewelry valued at more than $7,000 from his bedroom.

On May 28 at 4:52 p.m., a resident from Franklin Avenue in Malverne reported that sometime between July 4, 2011 and May 28, 2012, unknown person(s) stole tires and rims valued at $3,000 from a storage unit at Public Storage, located at 484 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre.

On May 29 at 9:20 a.m., a resident from Manhattan Street in Roosevelt reported that unknown person(s) attempted to steal property from the trunk of her 1996 Honda while it was parked at Mercy Medical Center, located at 1000 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre.

On May 30 at 10 a.m., a resident from N. Centre Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that sometime between May 25 at 5 p.m. and May 28 8:15 a.m., unknown person(s) stole $1,620 from a safe in his office.

ID Theft:

On May 31 at 5:30 p.m., two residents from Woods Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that on April 16, they were informed by the IRS that unknown person(s) had submitted tax returns using their personal information without authorization.

On June 3 at 11:05 a.m., a Princeton Street resident reported that an unknown person made unauthorized online purchases from his Citibank Mastercard account without authorization.

Just spoke with the Commissioner. He said the PD received two calls the night of June 13. One was for gunshots heard, the other was for fire fireworks. He said they investigated by the footbridge near Demott and the teenagers they questioned did not have fireworks or a gun. He did say that either scenario is possible. Hope that helps.

Very scary. If it took place minutes earlier or later it would have been in a 13 year old's head! Thank God someone was watching over that house
