Wow. thank god no one was killed by that stray bullet. this is the kinda thing you hear happening in the Bronx!
Jennifer Luickson June 12, 2012 at 08:17 PM
Stray bullet??? Really?? Where was the "ding dong b***h"??
Frank June 12, 2012 at 08:48 PM
Well it must've been a stray bullet 'cause the article said the bullet entered a window (no ding dong glock there). Who shoots like that besides blind people and drunken hillbillies?
That RVC guy June 12, 2012 at 09:35 PM
"Stray" may be wishful thinking on the part of the homeowner....or plain mis-representation to the RVCPD by the homeowner when filing the report....or it may have been a purely random act. I'm sure the PD is not "assuming" anything.

Where on Hempstead Ave did this occur? It is a pretty big block
Mike M June 14, 2012 at 12:21 PM
hempstead and Dorchester. Supposedly gun fire again last night near the corner of N Village Ave and Demot. No idea if at a house, however reorts of the sounds of gun fire. Some time around 11-midnight.
Frank June 14, 2012 at 02:30 PM
Mike M. Wow, that's crazy! I hope this is just a random event and not a pattern. We're talking about a suburb full of sleeping kids! last thing we want is stray bullets entering the rooms of our children and grandchildren. I would find this news most distressing for many residents. Any comment from the RVC PD? their website doesn't mention anything about last night's shooting.
Mike M June 14, 2012 at 02:38 PM
just heard that the issue last nght was supposedly fireworks-thats what the police said...Hopefully that is more accurate and it was not in fact a repeat of 2 weeks ago... Crazy to think that now if you hear something, you think of gun shots....A lot different living here as an adult then when I gre up here

Sell while you can. Uniondale used to be a nice town also.
Adam Johnson June 15, 2012 at 12:07 PM
Comment from the RVC PD? That would be a first . . . . . their website is just propaganda and advertisements. no real police information on their website.

Just spoke with the Commissioner. He said the PD received two calls the night of June 13. One was for gunshots heard, the other was for fire fireworks. He said they investigated by the footbridge near Demott and the teenagers they questioned did not have fireworks or a gun. He did say that either scenario is possible. Hope that helps.
Frank June 15, 2012 at 06:34 PM
@ anthony bottan. did you ask the commissioner about the school bus accident?
Anthony Bottan (Editor) June 15, 2012 at 06:49 PM
Frank - No update as of yet. I am following this story though, so as soon as I have something, I'll post it.
Frank June 22, 2012 at 05:43 PM

Very scary. If it took place minutes earlier or later it would have been in a 13 year old's head! Thank God someone was watching over that house
