Crime Watch Part Two: Man Tries to Cash $9K Fake Check

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

Larceny:

On April 24 at 2:20 a.m., a complainant from Andover Road in Rockville Centre reported that sometime between April 23 at 10 p.m. and April 24 at 2 a.m., unknown person(s) stole four wheels and tire rims valued at $9,200 from his 2013 Nissan GT-R parked in his driveway.

On April 24 at 5:25 p.m., a complainant from Oakwood Court in Baldwin reported that unknown person(s) stole four tires and rims valued at $800 total from her 2010 Nissan parked at Mercy Medical Center, located at 1000 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

On April 25 at 7:05 p.m., a complainant from S. Centre Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole her son’s bicycle valued at $50 from South Side Middle School, located at 67 Hillside Ave. in Rockville Centre.

On April 25 at 5 p.m., a complainant from Hampshire Road in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole a pocketbook from her motor vehicle while it was parked in front of 40 Maple Ave. in Rockville Centre between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

On April 26 at 7:35 p.m., a complainant from Parkwood Court in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole a tire from his bicycle that was secured with a cable lock in the rear of 279 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre between 5:40 p.m. and 6:49 p.m.

On April 26 at 11:30 p.m., a complainant from Broadway in Hewlett reported that unknown person(s) damaged the front driver side window of his 2011 Acura and stole property including a wallet and cell phone while the vehicle was parked in Municipal Parking Field No. 6 in Rockville Centre between 8:30 p.m. and 11:23 p.m.

On April 27 at 2:53 p.m., complainant manager from Bank of America, located at 152 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre reported that at approximately 1:54 p.m., an unknown male with NYS driver identification that was left at scene attempted to cash a fake check in the amount of $9,404.37.
 
On April 28 at 5:20 a.m., a complainant from Horatio Avenue in Merrick reported that on April 27 sometime between 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., unknown person(s) stole her Coach purse and contents that included $50 and her driver license while at the Dark Horse Tavern, located at 12 S. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre.

On April 29 at 3:35 a.m., complainant supervisor from CVS, located at 155 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre reported that an unknown male stole a CVS Pain Relief PM valued at $13.49 while a female companion returned items.

Unusual Incident:

On April 25 at 5:40 p.m., a complainant from Virginia Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that on April 24, unknown person(s) made two unauthorized withdrawals totaling $17,906.54 from her Bank of America home equity account.

Criminal Mischief:

On April 24 at 9:59 a.m., a complainant from N. Forest Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that sometime between April 23 at 11 p.m. and April 24 at 9 a.m., unknown person(s) damaged her 2009 Honda while it was parked in the rear parking lot of the apartment building.

On April 27 at 5:40 p.m., a complainant from Monroe Street in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) damaged a tire to his 1998 Toyota while the vehicle was parked in front of his residence.

On April 28 at 5:58 p.m., complainant director from Gutterman’s, located at 175 N. Long Beach Road in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) damaged PVC fencing in the rear of the building causing approximately $400 damage.

On April 28 at 8 p.m., complainant director from Gutterman’s, located 175 N. Long Beach Road in Rockville Centre reported that five unknown male youths were observed on surveillance camera throwing rocks at PVC fencing in the rear of the building causing approximately $1,000 damage.
