Crime Watch Part Two: ID Theft Strikes RVC Residents

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

Unusual Incident:

On May 7 at 7:50 a.m., a complainant from North Drive in Seaford reported that while grinding a tree stump in front of 495 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre, he struck a gas line resulting in a strong odor of gas. RCPD, RCFD, RC Building Department and National Grid personnel responded to scene.

On May 12 at 3:45 p.m., a complainant from Hamilton Street in Rockville Centre reported that between May 9 at 2:30 p.m. and May 10, unknown person(s) attempted to cash a fraudulent check against a Chase checking account and open up two credit cards in his name without authorization.

On May 12 at 4:45 p.m., a complainant from Lincoln Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that she was notified by a Citibank representative that on May 11, unknown person(s) made $561 in unauthorized purchases against her Citibank account.

Criminal Mischief:

On May 13 at 1:50 a.m., complainant owner from S/K Speed, located at 273 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre, reported that unknown person(s) damaged the front window to his store valued at $1,000 without permission.

On May 11 at 7:50 p.m., a complainant from Merlon Road in Valley Stream reported that sometime between 5:40 p.m. and 7:35 p.m., unknown person(s) damaged the rear passenger window to her 2012 Nissan while it was parked on Grand Avenue in Rockville Centre.

Property Damage:

On May 7 at 3:45 p.m., a complainant from Charles Street in Lakeview reported that sometime between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., her 2005 Nissan was damaged by unknown means while parked in front of 556 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre.

On May 11 at 1 p.m., a complainant from Howard Avenue in Woodmere reported that a Jamaica Ash dumpster rolled off of the sidewalk in Municipal Parking Field No. 7 and caused damage to the windshield and driver side fender of her 2010 Lexus.

Harassment:

On May 9 at 8:30 p.m., a complainant from South Park Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that between April 1 at 4:30 p.m. and May 9 at 8:20 p.m., Sunday, unknown person(s) have made calls on her home telephone causing annoyance.

Lost Property:

On May 9 at 9:45 a.m., a complainant from Linden Street in Rockville Centre reported that he lost his NYS Attorney ID card while in the vicinity of Rockville Centre.
