Crime Watch Part Two: Car Thefts, Break Ins and Purse Snatching

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

Larceny:

On Aug. 2 at 1:48 a.m., a Sherman Avenue resident reported that an unknown person stole jewelry and $10 from her unlocked vehicle sometime between Aug. 1 at 9 p.m. and Aug. 2 at 1:48 a.m. while it was parked in the driveway of her residence.  

On Aug. 2 at 6:15 a.m., a North Forest Avenue resident reported that an unknown person stole his GPS device from his unlocked vehicle sometime between Aug. 1 at 8:30 p.m. and Aug. 2 at 5:40 a.m. while it was parked in the driveway of his residence.

On Aug. 1 at 1:34 p.m., a Freeport resident reported that an unknown person stole his landscaping equipment which was left unattended on Meehan Lane.  

On Aug. 2 at 9:40 a.m., a Baldwin resident reported his unattended backpack was stolen while he was playing soccer at Tighe Field. The backpack contained debit cards, an MP3 player and personal papers.

On Aug. 4 at 10:45 p.m., an employee at TGI Fridays, located at 716 Sunrise Highway, reported an unknown person broke the front passenger window on her 2011 Nissan and removed an iPod and a GPS. Incident occurred between 6 p.m. and 10:15 p.m.

On Aug. 7, a complainant sales person from Radio Shack, located at 264 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre, reported that an unknown male stole a Sandisk micro SD card valued at $49.99.

On Aug. 5 at 2:15 a.m., an Oceanside resident reported the theft of her unattended purse from a bench at the Beach House restaurant/bar, located at 21 S. Park Ave. Incident occurred between 12:05 a.m. and 12:10 a.m. The purse contained a phone, driver license and credit card. The victim reports her bank notified her that the stolen credit card had already been used at an area hotel.

On Aug. 8, a complainant from Ohio Street in Hicksville reported that his parked 1996 Chevrolet was stolen from Municipal Parking Field No. 1 sometime between Aug. 5 at 10 p.m. and Aug. 6 at 4:15 a.m. 

On Aug. 5, a complainant from Pacific Avenue in Lawrence reported that unknown person(s) stole an iPod valued at $200 and a pocket knife valued at $20 from his 2008 VW parked at 37 Clinton Ave. in Rockville Centre between Aug. 4 at 12:05 a.m. and Aug. 5 at 12:15 p.m. 

On Aug. 5 at 9:25 p.m., a complainant manager from CVS Pharmacy, located at  598 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre, reported that an unknown male stole medications valued at $586.80 total and fled the store without paying.

Unusual Incident:

On Aug. 1 at 3:40 p.m., a Hempstead Avenue resident reported that he received a phone call from an unknown person claiming to be from a credit card company and was asking for his social security number.  

Criminal Mischief:

On Aug. 21 at 9:40 a.m., a Maine Avenue resident reported an unknown person wrote in red marker on his apartment door.

On Aug. 3 at 2 p.m., a Queens resident reported her ex-boyfriend broke the front windshield of a 2005 Infiniti she was borrowing from a friend while the vehicle was parked on Leon Court. Subject fled scene prior to arrival of police.

On Aug. 4 at 10:15 p.m, a customer at TGI Fridays, located at 716 Sunrise Highway, reported an unknown person broke the driver’s side window on his 2008 Jeep while the vehicle was parked between 8:05 p.m. and 9:40 p.m.

On Aug. 7 at 6:30 a.m., police personnel located a broken plate glass window valued at $400 at Mr. Miceli Restaurant, located at 19 N. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre which was damaged by unknown person(s).

Property Damage:

On Aug. 3 at 1:30 p.m., the owner of the Getty gas station at 232 N. Long Beach Road reported a customer drove away from the pump while the gas nozzle/hose was still attached to her car.
