Crime Watch: More Home Burglaries, DWI Arrests

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

The following information was supplied by the Rockville Centre Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrest:

On Jan. 28 at 1:52 p.m., Rasheem W. Smalls, 23, of Springfield Gardens, was arrested for second-degree aggravated harassment following a police investigation on Merrick Road in Rockville Centre.

On Jan. 28 at 4:48 a.m., Carlos Calderon, 41, of Freeport, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and VTL violations following a police investigation on Merrick Road in Rockville Centre.

On Jan. 27 at 7:05 p.m., a complainant from Plymouth Drive in Glen Head reported that an unknown male punched a victim from Sheriden Boulevard, Inwood in the face causing lacerations and head pain after the victim fell and broke a storefront window at Clip Style Hair Salon, located at 6 S. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre.

Fraud:

On Jan. 28 at 9:51 a.m., a complainant from Maine Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) have been calling her approximately 30 times a day for the purpose of having her cash checks against a Bank of America account as part of a lottery fraud scheme.

Larceny:

On Jan. 27 at 11:15 a.m., a complainant from Claridge Avenue in Elmont reported that unknown person(s) stole the keys to her Acura while it was parked by the valet service at Bally’s, located at 60 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre.

On Jan. 26 at 11:45 a.m., a complainant from Academy Street in Oceanside reported that unknown person(s) stole a wallet containing credit cards from her unattended pocketbook which was inside of a shopping cart while at King Kullen, located at 127 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre on Jan. 25 between 3:05 p.m. and 5 p.m.

On Jan. 29 at 11:45 a.m., a complainant from Taft Avenue in Seaford reported that unknown person(s) stole her Apple MacBook valued at $1,300 and $30 while she slept over a Scott Place, Rockville Centre residence with friends on Jan. 28 between 2:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.

On Jan. 31 at 3:30 p.m., a complainant from Schuyler Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole a Trek bicycle valued at $400 from her unsecured detached garage sometime between Jan. 30 at 9 p.m. and Jan. 31 at 5 a.m.

On Jan. 30 at 6:44 p.m., a complainant from St. Marks Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole $800 from his apartment sometime between Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.
