Crime Watch: Man with Stun Gun Robs Patrons at Best Western

The following information was supplied by the Rockville Centre Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrest

  • A 29-year-old Rockville Centre man was arrested on Oct. 7 at 9:13 p.m. for second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and a VTL violation following an investigation by police personnel in the vicinity of Municipal Parking Field #7.

  • Christopher A. Betty, 45, of Freeport, was arrested on Oct. 7 at 11:20 p.m. for second-degree criminal possession of weapon, aggravated unlicensed operation in the third degree and VTL violations following an investigation by police personnel in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway and Concord Street.

  • Daniel C. Isser, 27, of Westminster Road in Oceanside, was arrested on Oct. 12 at 2:09 a.m. for driving while intoxicated, circumvention of interlock device, aggravated unlicensed operation in the first degree, unlawful possession of marijuana, and VTL violations following an investigation by police personnel in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway.

  • Orlando A. Polanco, 33, of Roosevelt, was arrested on Oct. 13 at 2 a.m. for driving while intoxicated, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and VTL violations following an investigation by police personnel in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway.

  • Robbery

    • Complainants from Point Breeze Place, Far Rockaway, Nameoke Street, Far Rockaway, and 104th Avenue, Queens Village, reported to police on Oct. 11 at 2:37 a.m. that they were robbed of personal property by a man with a stun gun while in room 227 of the Best Western Hotel, located at 173 Sunrise Highway. The unknown man fled northbound on North Centre Avenue in a grey 2002 Nissan Altima motor vehicle operated by a second man and the subject vehicle was subsequently located and impounded on Old Mill Court.

    Burglary

    • A complainant from Heyward Lane reported to police on Oct. 11 that sometime between 6 and 10:30 p.m., an unknown person(s) entered the residence through a front entry skylight, ransacked two bedrooms, and apparently exited through unsecured rear patio doors. Stolen proceeds at the time of report included $15,500 in assorted jewelry.

    Fire

    • A complainant from Brooklyn reported to police on Oct. 8 at 8:05 p.m. that there was a fire in the engine compartment of his 2000 Honda motor vehicle while in the vicinity of Lincoln Avenue and Woodland Avenue. Rockville Centre Fire Department personnel extinguished the fire.

    • A complainant from Bedford Avenue reported to police on Oct. 12 at 7:59 p.m. that there was a fire on an outside light of a neighbor’s home. The fire was extinguished by RVCFD personnel.

    Property Lost

    • A complainant from Grand Avenue reported to police on Oct. 12 at 5:20 p.m. that assorted credit cards and personal paperwork were lost in the vicinity of his residence.
