Crime Watch: DWI's, Property Damage and ID Theft

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

The following information was supplied by the RVC Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrests:

On April 29 at 11:58 p.m., Francesco V. Mollo, 41, of Franklin Square, was arrested and charged with DWI and other VTL violations after he was observed driving across the center divider on Sunrise Highway.

Attempted Burglary:  

On April 26 at 6 p.m., an Arden Court resident reported finding pry marks on her back door. No entry was made.

Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident:

On April 30 at 5 a.m., a Lynbrook taxi driver reported his vehicle was struck by a 2001 Chevrolet while he was in Municipal Parking Field No. 1 behind Kasey’s waiting to pick up a passenger. The Chevrolet left the scene and the taxi driver followed and called 911. The operator of the Chevrolet was stopped and arrested by a Nassau County Police Officer for DWI and leaving the scene of an auto accident.

Larceny:

On April 26 at 8:40 p.m., a West Babylon resident reported his cell phone was stolen while he was in Kasey’s on April 23.

On April 27 at 1:15 p.m., two 14-year-old East Rockaway residents reported observing a male subject take their cell phones and a wallet which they had left on a bleacher while they played basketball at Centennial Park.

On May 1 at 7:30 p.m., an Oceanside resident reported his 2006 Hyundai Sonata was stolen from the parking lot of 7-Eleven, located at 324 Merrick Rd. The victim stated he left his car running while he went inside the store. The owner of the vehicle was issued a traffic ticket for an unattended vehicle.

Criminal Mischief:

On April 29 at 2 a.m., a pedestrian reported observing a male subject break several windows at 15 Front Street.

Property Damage:

On April 29 at 7:40 p.m., a Dogwood Lane resident reported finding the rear window of his 2000 Ford Explorer broken.

On May 1 at 12:45 p.m., a pedestrian notified police of a broken store window on N. Park Avenue.

Graffiti:

On April 25 at 5:47 p.m., a Broadway resident reported finding new graffiti on the base of the walk bridge that crosses Peninsula Boulevard. 

Unusual Incident:

On April 25 at 1:15 p.m., a Cumberland Street resident reported an unknown person used two of her credit card numbers to make unauthorized purchases in California.

On April 29 at 1 p.m., a Liberty Avenue resident reported an unknown person used his credit card number to make unauthorized purchases.

On April 29 at 4:55 p.m., a Woodmere resident reported an unknown person used his debit card number to make unauthorized purchases. Incidents occurred while he was residing on Merrick Road.
