Crime Watch: Car Break-Ins at TGI Friday's and Municipal Lots

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

Arrests:

On Jan. 15 at approximately 3:04 a.m., Bradley Hibbert Jr., 21, of Baldwin, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument following an investigation by police personnel during which the defendant was found to be in possession of counterfeit U.S. currency while at Kasey’s Restaurant located at 23 North Park Ave. in Rockville Centre. 

On Jan. 15 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Novella Curtis, 22, of Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and third-degree grand larceny following an investigation by police personnel in which the defendant deposited forged business checks at Citibank at 297 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre and at a Citibank located at 272-06 Union Turnpike in New Hyde Park.

On Jan. 15 at approximately 8:56 p.m. Joseph Platania, 40, of Howard Beach, was arrested and charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and operation of a motor vehicle with a suspended registration following an investigation by police anti-crime personnel in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway and North Long Beach Road in Rockville Centre.    

On Jan. 17 at approximately 3:06 a.m., Thomas Manisero, 28, of Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with third-degree assault following an investigation by police personnel at the Best Western Hotel located at 173 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre.

On Jan. 17 at 5:42 p.m., Jermaine L. Singleton, 26, of Jersey City, was arrested for petit larceny following a police investigation at King Kullen located at 127 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre.

Assault:

On Jan. 16 at 5:04 a.m., a Wantagh resident and three Valley Stream residents reported that, at approximately 3:50 a.m., they were assaulted by several unknown males in the vicinity of Chicken Itza Restaurant located at 212 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre. The victims were treated at Franklin General Hospital.  

Larceny:

On Jan. 11, at 2:54 PM, complainant assistant manager from CVS Pharmacy at 155 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre reported a larceny of approximately fourteen ink cartridges valued at $200 that occurred sometime between 1:45 p.m. and 2:20 p.m. A male subject was observed leaving the scene in a 2003 Dodge.

On Jan. 12, a complainant from Seaford Avenue in Seaford reported that unknown person(s) damaged the driver side rear window to his 2008 Toyota while it was parked at TGI Friday's at 716 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre between 6-6:40 p.m. and stole a Garmin GPS without permission.

On Jan.12, a complainant from 138 Street in Flushing reported that unknown person(s) damaged the front passenger side window to his 2010 VW while it was parked at TGI Friday's at 716 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre between 11:30 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. and stole sunglasses, an i-Phone and approximately $25 in quarters.

On Jan. 14 at 7 a.m., a Lakeview Avenue resident reported an unknown person damaged the driver-side window of his vehicle while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field  No. 8, sometime between 6-7 a.m. and stole a briefcase containing legal documents.   

On Jan. 17, a complainant from Wilson Lane in Rockville Centre reported that his 1998 Honda was stolen sometime between 7-9:40 p.m. while parked at Mercy Medical Center at 1000 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre. The stolen vehicle was later recovered in Hempstead.

On Jan. 18 at 4:30 p.m., a complainant from Broadway in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) damaged the passenger window to her 2006 Lexus while it was parked in Municipal Parking Field No. 5 between 4-4:05 p.m. and a pocketbook was taken without permission.

Criminal Mischief:

On Jan.18 at 9 a.m., a complainant owner from Rockville Barber Shop at 224 Merrick Road in  Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) damaged a front window to his business sometime between Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 16 at 9 a.m.
