Crime Watch: ID Theft Hits RVC Resident for $100K

Recent police activity as reported by the RVC PD.

The following information was supplied by the Rockville Centre Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Arrest:

On April 17 at 2:51 a.m., Carl L. Piro Jr, 36, of Elmont, was arrested for second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and VTL violations following an investigation by police personnel on Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre.

On April 22 at 12:13 a.m., David J. Kopelman, 43, of Rockville Centre, was arrested for fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree menacing following an investigation by police personnel on DeMott Avenue in Rockville Centre.

Burglary:

On April 18 at 6:30 p.m., a complainant from Woodgreen Place in Rockville Centre reported that sometime between 11 a.m. and 2:55 p.m., unknown person(s) entered his residence through an unsecured side door and stole $3,700, an Onieda watch and property belonging to a live-in home health aide.

Larceny:

On April 17 at 5:30 p.m., a complainant from N. Forest Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that on March 19, unknown person(s) withdrew $100,000 from his First National Bank, Merrick Road, Rockville Centre checking account.

On April 20 at 11:10 a.m., a complainant from Lincoln Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that sometime between April 19 at 11 p.m. and April 20 at 8 a.m., unknown person(s) entered his 2010 Toyota while it was parked in his driveway and stole $11,500 from the vehicle’s center console.

On April 21 at 1:55 p.m., a complainant from Osborne Place ion Rockville Centre reported that on April 20, unknown person(s) stole a GT bicycle valued at $350 from in front of his residence.

On April 21 at 4:15 p.m., a complainant from Buckingham Road in Rockville Centre reported that on April 20, unknown person(s) stole his wallet containing $270 and miscellaneous paperwork from a display counter while at the Post Office, lcoated at 250 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre.
