Crime Watch: Car Parts Thief Nabbed; Two Girls Robbed on Long Beach Road

Recent police activity in Rockville Centre as reported by the RVC PD.

Arrests:

On Sept. 1 at 11:27 p.m., Robert L. Elliott III, 24, of Wheatley Heights, was arrested for second-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree grand larceny, possession of burglar's tools and third-degree criminal trespass after a police investigation revealed that he was stealing catalytic converters from vehicles parked in the parking lot of Lexus of Rockville Centre, located at 666 Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre.    

On Sept. 4 at 3:41 a.m., Waseem Dean, 25, of Lynbrook, was arrested for DWI and a VTL violation after he was observed operating a 2002 Toyota on N. Park Avenue and Sunrise Highway in Rockville Centre.

On Sept. 6 at 6:19 a.m., Joselito L. Joseph, 32, of Valley Stream was arrested during an investigation at Cumberland Street in Rockville Centre for an open arrest warrant from the City of Long Beach for improper disposal of refuse.

Robbery:

On Sept. 4 at about 10:20 p.m., two 16-year-old female complainants reported to police that two unknown males robbed them while at N. Long Beach Road and Voorhis Avenue in Rockville Centre. One victim sustained a scratch on the arm; the subjects fled on foot eastbound on Voorhis Avenue with proceeds that included a pocketbook and $30.

Larceny:

On Aug. 30 at 6:20 p.m., a Roxen Road resident reported that a subject from West Melborne, Florida, who he sold a vehicle to, had refused to return his two New York State license plates.

On Aug. 30 at 9:49 p.m, an Oceanside resident reported that, between the hours of 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., unknown person(s) stole his wallet from his unlocked motor vehicle while it was parked in front of 181 Maple Ave. in Rockville Centre.

On Sept.4 , a complainant from Columbia Road in Rockville Centre reported that his 2008 Ford van was stolen from the parking lot of Mercy Medical Center at 1000 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre sometime between Sept. 3 at 5:30 p.m. and Sept. 4 at 2:25 a.m.

On Sept. 3, a complainant from Victoria Street in Baldwin reported to police that the passenger front window to his motor vehicle was damaged and a GPS and MP3 player were removed without permission while it was parked in the Saint Agnes Cathedral parking lot on Quealy Place between 9:15 a.m. and 11:40 p.m.

On Sept. 5, a complainant from Burtis Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole two bicycle peddles from his Performer GT bicycle that was locked at the bicycle rack in the rear of Saint Agnes Cathedral between 5:05 p.m. and 5:50 p.m.

On Sept. 6, a complainant from Bedford Avenue in Rockville Centre reported that unknown person(s) stole two bicycle handgrips and a bicycle seat from his Haru bicycle that was locked at the Saint Agnes Cathedral parking lot on Sept. 5 between 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

On Aug. 31 at 7:28 a.m., a Commack resident reported that, on Aug. 30 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., unknown person(s) stole his backpack containing his wallet and GPS device from his unlocked car while it was parked in front of 80 N. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre.

On Aug. 31 at 7:10 p.m., an East Rockaway resident reported that, between the dates of Aug. 16 at 10 p.m. and Aug. 20 at 10 a.m., unknown person(s) stole a credit card from her wallet while she was being treated at Mercy Medical Center located at 1000 N. Village Ave. in Rockville Centre. The credit card was then reportedly used to purchase items totaling $86.37 at a gas station in Hempstead.

Criminal Mischief:

On Sept. 4, a complainant from Merrick Road in Merrick reported to police that unknown person(s) damaged two windows at Prime Catch Restaurant 41 S. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre sometime between Sept. 3 at 10:30 a.m. and Sept. 4 at 10 a.m.

On Sept. 4, a complainant from Rockaway Avenue in Oceanside reported to police that unknown person(s) caused damage to a door window at Technicolor Salon 27 S. Park Ave. in Rockville Centre sometime between Sept. 3 and Sept. 4.

Property Damage:

On Sept. 2 at 7:38 p.m., a Long Beach resident reported that his 2004 Lexus was damaged by unknown means while parked in the parking field at Molloy College, located at 1000 Hempstead Ave. in Rockville Centre between 2:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.

Unusual Incident:

On Aug. 30 at 2:05 p.m., a N. Centre Avenue resident reported to police that she was defrauded out of $2,962.50 by an unidentified person when she received fraudulent money orders in payment for a Craigslist internet sale of a furniture item.

Investigation:

On Sept. 2 at 9:09 p.m., police personnel assisted Rockville Centre Building Department and Nassau County Fire Marshals Office personnel at McFaddens Restaurant located at 210 Merrick Road in Rockville Centre. A building department investigation revealed that numerous building and fire code violations were observed during a routine village codes compliance inspection of the premise.  Summonses were issued to the manager of the premise by Building Department and Fire Marshals office personnel.
